Yes, believe it! Spring is almost here... the days are getting longer, the birds are returning from their migration south AND the flowers are in bloom!!

Tiger

Oh dear sweet "Tiger" – you captured the hearts of your owners instantly. His gliding long legs and slithering skinny tail promoted him to coolness…. he was aloof when it was appropriate but adoringly affectionate when it was time for some sugary love. He looks very zen-like in this picture… taking in the sun, feeling the warm rocks, and seizing the moment!

Orchid I

Believe it or not... this is an orchid! We saw this while visiting the Sarasota Botanical Garden -- what an interesting variation.

Ana's Orchid

Ana's tender loving care of this orchid has finally paid off in a beautiful bloom. We have waited all year and here she is... hope she sticks around for a while. ;-)

Polka Dots

This little slow moving creature, literally, stopped, tilted his head upwards, and smiled for the camera. I love the detail of his polka dots... normally you would just think this is a hairy caterpillar and you'd miss the perfect dimenions of his dots!

Laying with the Clematis

The local chipmunk catching some rays in the climbing clematis. They sure are cute!

Yellow Dog

This picture was taken a few days ago as Saks and I were taking a morning walk through Central Park. We headed through the 72nd underground walkway near Bethesda Fountain... where she is in search of any food remnants. I used the simple Picasa tools to target an area of color while keeping the rest of the picture in B&W.

Fiddlehead

Here’s a gorgeous fiddlehead on a very large fern (not sure of the specific species). I love ferns because they are so fragile yet so versatile, resilient and edible! Tidbit of info from Wikipedia: there are over 20,000 fern species and they date back to over 140 million years ago.

Delmar

We met Delmar (age 13) on a recent visit to Negril, Jamaica. His mother sells local fruit on the beach and he is the youngest of seven children. What a wonderful kid... so well-mannered, excited to hang-out, go swimming, snorkeling, show off doing hand-stands on the beach and he even likes school!! This was very typical of people in Jamaica... they don't have a lot of physical possessions but they appreciate their own paradise, family, friends and know how to live life to the fullest!

The Bean

Carolyn and Ana looking directly into The Bean, located in the Millenium Park, Chicago. I like how it looks like they are upside down... and their big smiles are the best!!

The Ugly Duckling & The Hungry Lab

A statue of Hans Christian Andersen with his Ugly Duckling... and of course, Saks ready for anything, especially if there could be food in the vicinity. These shots were taken a few years ago in mid-April -- just as the trees were blooming in Central Park, New York. Yes, April is almost here!!!

Down by the sea...

Ana dipped her feet in the water while visiting Turks & Caicos. Needless to say, the water was amazingly clear and blue!

Sky's The Limit

When the flowers are in bloom and the sky is blue --- it feels like the sky is the limit! Oh how I long to see the clematis climbing its way up to the birdhouse!!

Leader of the Pack

Three dogs out on a winter walk as the sun is closing out the day. Question - which dog is leading the pack? Answer - the three-legged dog!

Bedfellows

This picture was taken almost three summers ago when there were hundreds of butterflies visiting our garden in August. Over the last few years, we have seen a decline in their presence - hopefully, this summer we see a strong return!

Detroit Metro Airport

This is a connecting terminal in the Detroit Metro Airport -- part of the new renovations for the McNamara terminal. I'm heading to Detroit for the weeekend so I hope to travel through this terminal again today. I love the sensation of being transported into the future.

2006 US Open Finals

Thanks to the zoom lens, I was able to capture this picture of Andy Roddick while sitting in the second to last seat in the upper deck of Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows, NY. Federer defeated Roddick 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 in the men's singles final. This was Roddick's first US Open final since his championship in 2003 and partnering with Jimmy Connors as his coach. I love how the ball and Roddick are suspended in time at this one moment... which are completely missed by the naked eye.

“PLEASE pass the cheese!"

This is Emma, a wonderful Yellow Lab in pure Labrador form… waiting for a snack. She was such a sweet dog that she wouldn’t dare reach for the cheese -- rather she would wait patiently until it was offered to her. Emma was such sweet girl!!

A day at the beach

We recently discovered this wonderful beach located near Greenwich, Connecticut that allows dogs on the public beach during the winter months. Since discovering the beach it is our favorite place to visit on the weekend (with a warm cup of coffee). Saks has quickly become accustomed to the weekly trip – waking us up at the crack of dawn every Saturday and crying in the car all the way to the beach!

Good morning...

A view of the morning sun peeking through a beautiful hemlock tree as the morning dew adds a shade of mystery. This is a view that I dearly long for... is it spring yet? I know summer is on it's way when I can go out on the deck at the casita at the crack of dawn to feel the warmth of the sun while I drink my coffee. At that moment in time - Life Is Good!!
